Make It Or Break It was a nightly feature on the Don Wright radio show, back in 1971. Listeners had the chance to tell the station brass
whether they liked, or hated, a selected new release. A few of the "break it"s, such as "Want Ads" by the Honey Cone and "Stay
Awhile" by the Bells, went on to become substantial hits, while many favorably-received tracks went on to sink like a stone. And then there's

I have started a new blog, to share stories and memories of the old Channel 6 in Miami (where I worked for nineteen years). The title is SAY SIX, the
slogan we used to hear ad nauseam every day. I intend for it to be a fairly positive blog, but I also want to tell the truth, which means when appropriate,
names will be named. Check it out here, and be sure to leave a comment.

Sorry, I forget what name(s) he was using when working at WBUS and WSHE in the early-mid '70s.
At the time, FM was becoming an actual presence in the pop culture. Leo got written up in Billboard because of the way he put together "sets."
Because he was a musician, he could match up songs by keys and rhythms.

Anyway, Leo died in Malaysia, sometime in the past day or two. Leo's been living in Asia for a lot of years.

Here are some interesting comments from Lee Abrams' on-line blog. Lee, of course, was one of the most powerful radio consultants in the 70s & 80s, with Miami being part of his territory. He's now the programming guru for XM radio, and writes a weekly blog every Monday.

"Judging artist popularity in regards to programming songs sure has changed. Way back, a station would call record stores and ask what was selling. That was one of my duties back in Miami. I remember finding...

When underground radio was in it's infancy in Miami most of the stations on the FM frequency were throw-away formats. No one thought FM would take off. WBUS-FM was a business news station but took the plunge into progressive "free form" radio. One of the first stars of this station was The Cosmic Traveler. He sometimes went by just "The Cos". He drove a colorful Volkwagen Bug with fake rockets mounted on each side. Quite a sight to see.
