Southwest High Bands

This April 1965 article from the Southwest Lancer focused on the Shaggs, Montells, and Intruders, but it could have just as easily looked at the Modds, Evil, or dozens of other bands. Southwest was a real hotbed of talent in the mid-60s. (Earlier the school was home to Charlie McCoy, Jon Jon Lewis, the Catalinas, and a certain "Gatekeeper"; later on it would be bands such as Sweet Basil or the Milk Truck.)

Hello,
As a youngster I remember a song that I just loved which was getting heavy airplay in the Daytona Beach area, circa 1967, 68. I don't know who recorded it but the lyrics went like this:
Look at the water, under the bridge. Somethin' is movin', I wonder what it is. It's my little sister, in love with a man. Mama is crying, but papa don't give a damn.
The chorus went something like: Little sister don't you worry, you will love again someday.

This was sent to me today from a collector in Argentina in response to my You Tube clip of The Razor's Edge clips. The liner notes are in Spanish and English. It was recorded in 1964 and just released today. Amazing that this survived all these years. Amazing quality.

Hey does anyone remember " Stone Knight " a really good group of the late 60's early 70' s ?
Last time I heard them play was in, I believe 74 ? Really ahead of their time, ALA Black Sabbath/Grand Funk. The first time I saw them was in Milander Park at a battle of the bands. A couple of years later remember them playing in "Evil People" (they did not even look old enough to get in!) but heard they got kicked out after a couple of gigs because they played...

Didn't see it posted so thought I'd mention that two MBB live songs from the 2005 reunion are on youtube. Easiest way I got to them today was to search for " mouse and the boys I Feel Good" and "The American Trilogy Mouse and The Boys". There are a bunch of versions of both songs on youtube so you can get to the MBB version a little easier as shown. Typical youtube No Resolution video.
