Anyone remember Fred Marshall's Miami record labels Campus, Jayvee and Orbit? They all came under the umbrella of the Nocturne Company and featured local acts like Rick Shaw and the Mandarins (not that Rick Shaw!), Jerry and the Pledges, The Spacemen, The Twisters, The Collegiates and Charlene Morris.

Miami music needed for upcoming documentary

I am doing a documentary on surfing in Miami & I would like to use music from Miami as the backdrop to the documentary, all stylesare welcome. The doc will start in the 1930's & 40's so I'd like to get music from that era up to tomorrow. I need the music & the permission to use it. There is no upfront money involved. My first club gig with a band was at the Capri Club on 8th St. in Miami in the early 60's.. (to me the 50's are really 1954-1964 or so .. seems like the decades are out of sync with the music waves by 4 or 5 years).

Does anyone remember that joint, or ever played there?
There was a diner next door.. I loved those fries!

I grew up in back of John Sacarro (organist) for the Checkmates. Harry Hand was their guitar player..
They had an excellent band in the early later 50's/early 60's.
Does any one remember them??

Anyone remember Alan Page and the Deltones ?

I think they had a record called "Restless Night".

Members consisted of:

Alan Page - vocal
Charlie Wisham (sp) lead guitar
George Fagan - guitar
Bob Weiss ? Drums

I saw them on TV playing that song on a Jacksonville
TV station (ch 4? ) and taped the audio portion of the
show.

I think the group was from the Daytona Beach Area.

I am seeking info on Dennise Norwood, who was a songwriter, performer, manager and producer who recorded in her own home studio in Fort Lauderdale in the 50's and 60's. Among her artists was Kris Jensen, who hit the charts with "Torture".

Anyone remember a Jacksonville band fronted by an older guy named Phil Cay. He was a hair stylist by day and a singer by night. The band wasn't too bad, and brought a little entertainment to the Navy Bases in the area. His Go-Go dancers were incredible.
