It's looking good!! Jaco's Park is growing!! Pushing those molecules might be partly responsible.
The hope for the ETA is the end of this year, who knows how things go, especially now that they are adding 2.5 acres! Those were some fun days down by The Village Zoo. |

They are shooting for Nov/Dec of this year, Lightship. There is talk of a concert to be held there in November, I have no details nor confirmation. Any input
for inside the park is welcomed, it will be brought up by a resident at the upcoming meeting, June 19.
The suggestions so far: Bandshell Basketball court Crotons Water feature bass shaped hopscotch board with interactive sound building with electronic archives |

Coincidently, the park is right next to the warehouses where Jaco used to jam when he was a teen. You can see the warehouses in the video!

I didn't realize that, Ken. Wow! Sidewalk's End used to have a bay there - godawful acoustics, hot and sticky but the memories are irreplacable.
Hey Ingrid - are there any plans for some kind of display of memorabilia or a small museum room where Jaco's history can be recounted?

Wow this is very emotional!
Thanks Ingrid, for keeping us that are far away posted! There should be a statute wheneever possible, it should have light coming from inside just like JACO. and a nice fountain with coy fish, and benches . |

They are still clearing the area where the Park is. If you're on MySpace, new pics have been added at http://www.myspace.com/grassrootsop. There you will also see the beginnings of a mural, which was well on its way when powers to be decided to throw a wrench in it, but as with the Park's fruition, it will not stop us, we will forge ahead, a mural is in the plans! Also want to let you all know about this year's Geezer Palooza event @ War Memorial Auditorium on August 9 starting at 7pm. The Ultimate South Florida 60's Rock & Roll Band Reunion to benefit The Majic Children's Fund hosted by RICK SHAW with GEEKUS DEAD END KIDS DR.
