Orlando Sentinel Obituary Michael George Gibbins GIBBINS, MICHAEL GEORGE, age 56 of Oviedo, FL passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2005. He was born March 12, 1949 in Wales. He was a rare talent, both in his music and his skills as a loving father and husband. He brought laughter and music to the life of everyone he met in life through his band, Badfinger. He leaves a loving family both here in Oviedo, FL and over seas in Swansea, South Wales. He will always be remembered by those he met, and his spirit will live on through his legacy of music and of his sons. Michael is survived by his wife, Ellie; sons Owen, David and Adam all of Oviedo, FL; mother, Elizabeth Gibbins of Swansea, Wales; six sisters, Brenda, Barbara, Betty, Joyce, Marion, and Cilla all of Swansea, Wales. The family will receive friends, Friday October 7, 2005 from 6-8PM at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home. A Service of Remembrance will be Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 2PM at BALDWIN-FAIRCHILD FUNERAL HOMES OVIEDO CHAPEL, 501 East Mitchell Hammock Road, Oviedo, FL 32765. 407-366-3700.

Badfinger were obviously Beatlesque but their songs were so good it negated that fact. They had an interesting chemistry. They had that backbeat swagger that I love. They are actually sloppy on some songs. Thank God or something for that.They had an always reliable fresh sound. Sorry to hear that yet another member of this band has passed. Passed with flying colors. I played three sets with the original line-up of Badfinger in attendence at the Flying Machine.It was a memorable evening. This band sure had it's run with bad luck. I think only one original member lives. And so it goes . stratman

After the one guy hung himself in his garage, Joey sort of 'dropped out' for awhile and became just a spectator and not a performer.

Posts: 3790 (11/22/05 03:37:20) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hey Chuck, I first met Joey here in LA, at a new post punk club on the boulevard [hollywood] called ??? I had gone to see the late Phil Seymour. Joey he had a band calling itself Badfinger, he was the only orig. member.
