I remember those gas tanks. Eerie for sure. I remember every time I went by I would think about what might happen if one those puppies let loose. Fact is, if that happened and you were within 10 miles of that place, you would have gone to that big recording studio in the sky.

I remember Haulover Cut and I distinctly remember getting laid there. We need to start a new thread...show of hands, how many people jumped off of Haulover Bridge back in the day? I remeber those damn tunnels out to the beach, and yes, the echoes were far out.

On the bay side was the first time the guys in our band and myself ever heard the Allman Brothers play. Seems they played the night before at Thee Image and were sightseeing (with the equipment truck?) before going home when it broke down in the parking lot. Actually they were all probably loaded and going the wrong way. Hey, dude....Macon is the other way.

Anyway, out came the equipment for an inpromptu concert. Holy crap....two drummers? Duane on slide? We all looked at each other and just said....how the hell are we gonna compete with that? Eventually we grew up and realized developing our own sound was more important than mimicking the Bros.

I heard Marcella's was down there in Cooper City... When down there we always go to Mario The Baker which is 1 block west of Flamingo on Palm(?). Mario used to own the place on the east side of West Dixie Hwy. and about 137th St. in North Miami. He sold out about 6-7 years ago and is making it big in Cooper City. I don't believe this is the same family as Marcella....whose last name was Atkins (or Adkins) and with whose daughter I attended Holy Family Catholic School with in the 50's and early 60's.

Maybe I can contract with Marcella to cater the upcoming Ultimate South Florida 60's Rock and Roll Band Reunion this coming July 30th.

P.S. The greasy pizza and the oily garlic rolls kick ass..... Can somebody overnight me some?
