I was informed recently by Bob Abernathy that Spencer Travis died. Spencer was the lead singer, bass and guitarist with Uranus. He was originally from the New
York area and lived in Fort Lauderdale while in Florida. He moved back to New York for awhile, but had returned to Florida were he lived until he died. I
started the group Uranus with him before I entered Cameron. I was only with them for about a year before Cameron asked me to join them. The last time I saw
Spencer was in the late 70's or early 80's at Art Stock's Playpen while Cameron was playing there. He said he was in a band doing a lot of
Aerosmith songs. Though I never had a chance to catch them, I'm sure he did a great job. It sounded like it was right up his alley. Since I'm not
living in Florida now, I'm not sure if he was still playing in a band or not, but I hope he was. He was another Florida musician that lived for music as so
many of us have, and it's nice to know that so many are still involved. I believe that we both learned a lot from each other and I thank him for it.
