David, this is a cool thing that you're doing. Do you have a PayPal account? It would make it easier and faster to send donations.
Thanks, Ed O

Unfortuantely, neither my firm nor I have a Paypal account or take credit cards. I am sorry. I can possibly check with my firm's bank in the a.m. to see if
they will permit wires of money into my trust account but I do not know.
Candy within the past hour (it is 6:30 p.m. now EDT) gave me what she believes is Jamene's stepmom's number in Canada. I have, in turn, tried to reach the Miramar PD Detective who handled the death investigation. I learned he is out on training for 2 more days so I next called the Chief of Police, who is a dear friend of mine, at home. He is jumping on this right away due to the urgency and will have his on duty officers make every effort to have the Canadian police notify Jamene's stepmother of her death and to see what should be done with arrangements. Since I did not know who her stepmother should call, I advised the Chief to have her call me and I will get the ball rolling. Candy has previously called around to different places offering cremation and has found a place that will do it for $600. I am not sure if any of us have the uthority to "hire" the service, certainly I do not as I am not the lawyer of a client, just someone trying to help. I will look into the legality of who has the authority but guess it would be her stepmom. If anyone knows of other relatives (I have heard she may have a paternal aunt) whatever info you have I can give to the police and they can try to find the relatives. Thank you, David Bronstein I will be in and out of my office but, if anyone is dropping by to donate, there is always a staff here during business hours. |

I have what is, under the tragic circumstances, great news. I just got off of the phone with Sgt. Leila Miles of the Golden Beach Police Deprtment, who really
went the extra mile to help. Jamene's stepmother is still living and resides in Canada but also has a home in Golden Beach. Sgt. Miles tracked down
Jamene's stepmom and notified her of Jamene's death and of the Medical Examiner's Friday deadline. She said Jamene's Stepmom was very upset and
indicated that she will step up and handle everything, as Jamene's deceased father would have wanted her to do so under the circumstances. She is goign to
call the medical examiner's office and make arrangements. She also told the Sgt that she and Jamene's father never stopped loving Jamene. I was about
in tears when I heard that.
If anyone has sent contributions, I will return them and not deposit them. Thanks to one and all. DeeBee |

I received a phone call yesterday.........
And, I spoke with Chris, Jamene's step mother! She was indeed grieve stricken. Her appreciation and gratitude were big. Nearly a week ago, I contacted Leila Miles of Golden Beach police force. Being at a loss as to how to find Jamene's next of kin this seemed like a good start. The reason being, I knew that Jamene's step mom and dad owned property in Golden Beach. Any information that I could remember was then shared... Det. Miles was easy to speak with and a very patient listener . I thank her for her kindness and perseverance.... Chris was found! So now--- we can continue to move through this phase of Jamene's journey can she can be respectfully put to rest. Arrangements are being made.. there will be a memorial service. ... When more information is acquired it will be posted. I hope to see all of you. One again, I express my heartfelt gratitude .... Dee Bee--- David you were amazing. WOW! Gabe--- not enough words to express the love you give. Detective Ganow of Miramar police department.. thank you for also searching records...(He was the detective to respond to the 911 call on Sept. 27th. ) Candy... I hope this will help you heal. LEILA MILES>>>we are so grateful to YOU Leila Miles! What a wonderful community . I would like to leave all of you with these poetic words. -------------------- "Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on the snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the mornings' hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circle flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night: Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die." May we all find our peace and celebrate the life of Lydia Jamene Miller kindest regards, <3 AnnDee Kimple Rucker |

And great gratitude is also in order to Ann Dee, for her thoughtfulness, for her commitment to a friend, and
for the understanding manner that she dealt with my anxiety about obtaining arrangements that would place her to rest in the manner she deserves.

Just wanted to give some credit to Sgt Leila Miles of the Golden Beach P.D. and Sgt. Mark Granow of the Miramar P.D. They moved heaven & earth to locate
Jamene's stepmother quickly in Western Canada to make the notification to next of kin. They are both very caring individuals and each expressed the desire
to come to any memorials that are held. The woman I spoke with at the M.E.'s office had heard of Jamene's musical history and informed me that everyone
at their office had taken the time to learn about her on the internet and to listen to the Youtube clips of her songs and she lamented the loss of talent. That
people like that took the time to go "beyond the call" restores my faith in humanity.
Also, thank you to those folks who sent contributions to my office; your generosity at a time like this did not surprise me in the least.. We did not need to deposit them and will tear up all checks received as Jamene's stepmother is handling the arrangements and is financially able to do so.

Thanks for the update, deebee. How ironic that Jamene is gaining new fans at this time. Talent is eternal.

the real jamene | ||

I knew Jamene since 1982, was her boyfriend for about 4 years? Kept in touch with her till last year. Jamene was a great talent that led a tragic, lonely
retched life, riddled with broken dreams, missed opportunities, missed gigs and drug addiction. During our 4 years together she tried again and again to curb
her pill intake but fell back into the pattern every time. Her addiction I feel was not her fault, it was hereditary.
Missed gigs and drug addiction aside, Jamene didn't have a mean bone in her body. She was a great person and even in her dark days and in the face of great adversity, she never lost her sense of humor, her looks, her lovely smile and great laugh. It's a shame that her life and career was ravaged by her addiction. She needed help that she never got. Instead of covering this up I think it's best to speak up. If this post gets one person here to think about what happened to Jamene and it gets them to curb their drug use, or beat their kid till he curbs his drug use, then this was worth posting, regardless of how many people it's going to piss-off. Sometimes addictions happen to great people. I know first-hand, having broken free of sleeping pills after a 21-year addiction. It ain't fun.
Getting off prescription drugs is hell. Fortunately I found Dr. Paul Canali in South Miami, and have been virtually drug-free for more than 3 1/2 years.
You're right -- we should remember her smile, her laugh, and the good things. We can also learn from the bad.

FILM242 wrote: Jaime, You haven't pissed me off with your comment; it is needed for good to come of this tragedy. Unfortunately, a silent but documented epidemic exists amongst a demographic of people in their late 40's and 50's regarding drug abuse nationally. Many of these folks come from the heyday of illegal drug use (the 60's and 70's). Their drugs of choice now are mostly legal prescription drugs and they use "no questions asked" docs and pharmacies to get these 'scripts filled for drugs like Vicodin, Oxycontin, and the like in amounts beyond all reasonable need for the drugs' intended use; too frequently with fatal results. Since these people are otherwise law abiding, mostly have jobs, and do not act like idiots in public, they mostly evade arrest and, thus, escape court-ordered help. I have frequently heard it said that people must hit rock bottom before they get help and, sadly, that is usually the case. Unfortunately, some that hit bottom do not ever return. This is such a pity. |

Deeb,
Very well put...sort of. BB always speaks his mind...somehow, I feel McFazz will back me on this, if not, he may say so without hurting my feelings. I never met Jamene but spoke to her on the phone, through Fazz and had good banter in the lounge. If Jamene had been my "girlfriend" in thee day, the post made by FlimFlam 242 would have been the furthest thing from my mind. Those memories would have been mine to cherish and ponder in my own mind the tragedy they brought...if true. This post will not deter anyone from following the same path since we all know the end that awaits this choice....we all are now over 30. This to me is total defamation and should have been left alone...this thread is to honor the accomplishments of all of us who have given all we could to the industry we loved, regardless of what those of us did to make it more enjoyable as we saw fit. Deeb, I think in your heart, this post did piss you off...if not, I'd like to say, it obviously did me. If I were Jamene and could respond to this piece of chicken shit post, I'd haunt FlimFlam007 for the rest of his meager life. Fazz, any footnote? Jamene..R.I.P. and I hope I responded to your approval. BB |

Blue Beatle,
Have to disagree. While I personally had not mentioned here what I have heard were possible prescription drug issues, everything I have heard and know of (I know more than I am letting onto here) makes what Film mentions appear to be the probable cause of this unfortunate early demise of a superior talent, although toxicology tests are not final. I think that Film242's post was intended to hopefully help prevent similar problems from affecting others so that others don't share the pain he feels now. He obviously was much closer to her at one time than anyone else here, is shocked and saddended by her death, and wants some small meaning to come from this tragedy if his post can positively affect someone else from similar misfortune should they have similar issues as it is rumored Jamene had. He also may be "angry" at her for dying under the circumstances allegedly surrounding her death. He gets a pass from me and he has shed light on an issue that my post right beofre yours also addresses. Ignoring a problem issue does not make it go away and he clearly was trying to help educate people about a problem; not to defame her memory. Even if she had the problem suspected, it is no shame and was merely a recognized illness that Film wants others to be wary of and avoid, or to get help if they have this problem. That is admirable and some good can come if someone is inspired by his post. At the same time, I understand your thought that this particular thread, in your view, is not the place for this type of comment and that we all should stick to only laudatory comments in mempry of those who are taken from us. No one correct answer here. |

Thank you for understanding my pain and the reason for my post, Deebee. Bluebeetle, there is nothing to cherish privately in what i posted. I felt I had something to say that one day might change some one's outlook on a situation, so i posted it. You feel it will help no one, and you are as entitled to that opinion as I am to mine. We all don't think alike, thank God, or we'd only have one channel on the TV. I was very hurt and angry at her early demise. Very angry at pharmacists that in the 80s sold her bottles of 1000 black beauties while I was trying to help
her kick the habit. On a few occasions I was tempted to turn them in but I didn't and now I regret not doing it.
My intention was not to tarnish her memory by posting here, but where else but here could I reach bunches of people that loved and admired the incredible talent and great person that we lost. Having just finished reading the Albert Goldman book on Elvis Presley is what inspired me to post what I knew about Jamene. What I read in the Goldman book really pissed me off. Last week Steve Mele called me and told me Jamene passed away, I knew right away why, I don't need the medical examiner's report. I felt the same anger at her death that I felt when I finished the Goldman book. Knowledge is power. Would we be better off today if we had only been told that Jim Morrison died of a heart attack, that Jimi Hendrix died accidentally while puking in his sleep, that Janice Joplin passed away in her sleep, that Elvis passed away while sitting on the toilet? No, we would not be better off. The only way to turn Jamene's tragedy into something positive is by having the painful knowledge of what happened ingrained in your brain. Knowing what happened to Jamene will hurt more than knowing what happened to Elvis, Morrison, Hendrix and Joplin. They were distant stars. Jamene was our star. We can relate to her tragedy much more than we can to the others. One day if you realize that you have a friend or a family member in the same predicament, Jamene's memory will spur you into action. If that happens, then something good will come from this tragedy. I will miss her very much. Jaime M.
